PH Box Office Update: 27 July to 2 August 2026
By Takilya, 12 Sep 2026, 8 min read
Sunday 2 August closed the week as the fullest day across the chains Takilya covers, at 80.8 percent, and the weekend alone took nearly half of everything the week filled. Spider-Man: Brand New Day led on 1,241,795 filled seats at 67.3 percent occupancy across five days. MOA IMAX at SM Mall of Asia ran fullest of any busy room at 88.6 percent across 26 measured screenings.
Observed filled seats for the week, equal to ₱561.7M ($9.17M) in estimated gross.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened on Wednesday 29 July and took the week with it. Takilya read 1,241,795 filled seats across its first five days at 67.3 percent occupancy, an estimated ₱471.08 million, and 87 percent of every seat the whole market filled. Before release, our Advance Sales article tracked the bookings already on sale.
Columbia Pictures Industries put opening day alone at ₱95,930,965, reported as the biggest Spider-Man opening day in the Philippines, the biggest opening ever for Sony Pictures in the country and the biggest post-pandemic opening day, third-biggest of all time behind Avengers: Endgame at ₱205.6 million and Avengers: Infinity War at ₱140 million. Takilya's own reading of the film that Wednesday was 220,722 filled seats of 350,682 offered, 62.9 percent, an estimated ₱85.64 million across 142 branches. The market as a whole filled 235,980 seats that day at 46.0 percent, against 6.9 percent the Tuesday before it. Our earlier Opening Day article explores the timing of ticket purchases that day.
On 4 August the distributor announced the opening frame as five days, 29 July to 2 August, at ₱586.9 million from more than 700 cinemas, described as the biggest post-pandemic opening weekend in the Philippines and the third-biggest overall. Takilya's measured figure for those same five days is ₱471,076,113.90, and it sits 19.7 percent below the distributor's number. Our earlier Opening Week article explores buying patterns across that five-day run.
Those earlier articles were initial analyses of the raw seat-map data available at the time, including advance projections and estimates for unmeasured cinemas where stated. Their coverage, observation cutoffs and estimation methods differ from this weekly report. Use the figures here for comparisons across the weekly series; the gross remains an estimate.
Two other titles opened into that stretch: The Convenience Store on 3,288 seats at 4.5 percent, and Final Summer from 30 July on a small screen count.
Against the seven days before it the market added 1,056,304 filled seats and an estimated ₱396.22 million, rising 31.5 points to 42.5 percent full from 10.9 percent.
27 July to 2 August 2026. Each bar is scaled against the 1,426,370 observed seats across all films.

The Odyssey slipped to second in its third week on 130,953 filled seats, and its occupancy firmed slightly to 21.6 percent from 21.3 percent even as the seats offered to it were cut by more than a third. That is a steady hold for a title sharing the week with a release this size. Moana was third on 21,911 seats at 5.7 percent, and Evil Dead Burn rose to 10.2 percent from 8.6 percent.
Below those, several of the smaller holdovers gained fill on fewer offered seats. Tuner went to 13.1 percent from 7.0 percent, Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam to 3.8 percent from 2.0 percent, and Pinocchio: Unstrung to 3.8 percent from 3.4 percent. Seven continuing titles gave ground on fill, and Toy Story 5 and Moana were the widest of them, at 7.0 and 5.7 percent.
No title reached a fourth week inside the Takilya record this week.

Scheduled-only titles and zero-seat advance listings are excluded because they do not provide a material weekly update.
These figures are estimates from what Takilya observed. They are not audited distributor returns.
Seats filled and seats offered are read off each cinema's own seat map for a screening. A reading taken more than six hours ahead of the show is set aside, so advance sales are never reported as a full house. A screening counts only where the reading gives a whole seat count against a known room capacity, and each showing is counted once however many times it was read.
Estimated gross is a floor. It multiplies the seats a screening filled by the ticket price observed for that screening, and falls back to the lowest applicable published price where none was seen. For this week 91.2 percent of filled seats carried a directly observed price.
Dollar figures use the 31 July 2026 reference rate of ₱61.269 to the dollar.
Coverage is the 7 chains, 142 branches and 623 auditoriums counted here. Fullest-room claims compare only the rooms that offered at least 2,000 seats across the week and carried at least 20 measured screenings spread over six of the seven days. A room is set aside when more than a quarter of its readings sat at full capacity, because a reading pinned at capacity cannot tell a sold-out house from a seat allocation the cinema had closed. Every total here is a floor built only from the chains Takilya observes.
