PH Box Office Update: 17 to 23 August 2026

Insidious: Out of the Further opened on Wednesday 19 August and filled 137,470 seats across 158 branches on its first day, 41.4 percent of the 332,379 it offered, for an estimated ₱50.91 million.

Columbia Pictures reported ₱51,682,703 for the day and called it the biggest horror opening day on record in the Philippines. Takilya's floor estimate sits 1.5 percent under that number for the Wednesday alone, and 1.2 percent under once the Tuesday midnight sneak is counted with it: four rooms at Fisher Mall Quezon Avenue, three of them at 98.8, 98.0 and 95.8 percent full and the fourth at 60.2 percent.

Across the full week the film took 631,383 seats at 39.4 percent occupancy, 64 percent of every seat the market filled. The day it landed moved the market Takilya covers from 10.8 percent full on Tuesday to 25.1 percent on Wednesday, and the week closed 253,543 seats ahead of the seven days before it with occupancy up 6.7 points to 24.4 percent.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day held second place in its fourth week on 230,406 filled seats and 19.3 percent occupancy, easing from 23.1 percent a week earlier while keeping the widest screen count of any continuing title. The End of Oak Street took 43,304 seats at 9.7 percent.

The Odyssey reached a sixth week inside the Takilya record, one of three titles still running from the week Takilya began counting on 14 July, and it opened on the 15th, so its run is recorded whole. It took 34,176 seats at 15.3 percent this week, and its totals through 23 August come to 695,111 seats filled of 3,528,464 offered, 19.7 percent occupancy, an estimated ₱363.01 million across 15,302 measured screenings.

One title reached a fourth week inside the Takilya record this week. Its run total through 23 August:

• Spider-Man: Brand New Day, 3,130,252 seats filled of 7,747,450 offered, 40.4 percent occupancy, an estimated ₱1.21 billion.

These figures are estimates from what Takilya observed. They are not audited distributor returns.

Seats filled and seats offered are read off each cinema's own seat map for a screening. A reading taken more than six hours ahead of the show is set aside, so advance sales are never reported as a full house. A screening counts only where the reading gives a whole seat count against a known room capacity, and each showing is counted once however many times it was read.

Estimated gross is a floor. It multiplies the seats a screening filled by the ticket price observed for that screening, and falls back to the lowest applicable published price where none was seen. For this week 95.5 percent of filled seats carried a directly observed price.

Dollar figures use the 21 August 2026 reference rate of ₱61.66 to the dollar.

Coverage is the 10 chains, 162 branches and 692 auditoriums counted here. Fullest-room claims compare only the rooms that offered at least 2,000 seats across the week and carried at least 20 measured screenings spread over six of the seven days. A room is set aside when more than a quarter of its readings sat at full capacity, because a reading pinned at capacity cannot tell a sold-out house from a seat allocation the cinema had closed.
