By Takilya, 12 Sep 2026, 8 min read
The weekend carried this one. Saturday and Sunday took 42 percent of everything the week filled, and Sunday closed it as the fullest day at 19.7 percent. SM Mall of Asia led the cinemas Takilya observes on 19,703 filled seats, and Cinema 4 at SM City Grand Central ran fullest of any busy room at 64.0 percent across 34 measured screenings.
Observed filled seats for the week, equal to ₱172.6M ($2.77M) in estimated gross.
Six titles opened on Wednesday 26 August into a market that had just absorbed a major release, alongside an eight-title Harry Potter re-release block. Hope and PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie were the wide ones, 30,145 seats at 9.2 percent occupancy and 23,884 at 8.9 percent, together a little over 12 percent of the week.
Against the exceptional seven days before it the market settled back by 532,720 seats and 11.8 points of occupancy, finishing at 12.6 percent full. The shape of the week was normal for a post-opening stretch: quiet midweek houses, then a weekend that recovered more than four seats in ten.
24 to 30 August 2026. Each bar is scaled against the 449,878 observed seats across all films.

Scheduled-only titles and zero-seat advance listings are excluded because they do not provide a material weekly update.
These figures are estimates from what Takilya observed. They are not audited distributor returns.
Seats filled and seats offered are read off each cinema's own seat map for a screening. A reading taken more than six hours ahead of the show is set aside, so advance sales are never reported as a full house. A screening counts only where the reading gives a whole seat count against a known room capacity, and each showing is counted once however many times it was read.
Estimated gross is a floor. It multiplies the seats a screening filled by the ticket price observed for that screening, and falls back to the lowest applicable published price where none was seen. For this week 99.98 percent of filled seats carried a directly observed price.
Dollar figures use the 28 August 2026 reference rate of ₱62.254 to the dollar.
Coverage is the 10 chains, 162 branches and 678 auditoriums counted here. Fullest-room claims compare only the rooms that offered at least 2,000 seats across the week and carried at least 20 measured screenings spread over six of the seven days. A room is set aside when more than a quarter of its readings sat at full capacity, because a reading pinned at capacity cannot tell a sold-out house from a seat allocation the cinema had closed. Friday 28 August rests on fewer distinct auditoriums than the other six days, 605 against 618 on the next thinnest, so read that single day as indicative. Every total here is a floor built only from the chains Takilya observes.
