PH Box Office Update: 3 to 9 August 2026
By Takilya, 12 Sep 2026, 9 min read
One film still owned the market Takilya covers. Spider-Man: Brand New Day took 87 percent of everything the week filled, 1,146,267 seats at 45.9 percent occupancy in its second week. Saturday was the fullest day at 49.9 percent and the weekend took 39 percent of the week's filled seats, while Cinema 1 at SM City Bataan ran fullest of any busy room at 93.7 percent across 27 measured screenings.
Observed filled seats for the week, equal to ₱520.2M ($8.55M) in estimated gross.
Cinemalaya arrived on Friday 7 August with the fullest titles of the week, measured across every room each program played rather than inside any single auditorium. Thirteen programs took 15,055 seats of 26,114 offered, 57.7 percent occupancy, led by 2 Valid IDs at 96.5 percent and GALA at 84.1 percent.
Rosario went wide on Wednesday 5 August across 118 branches and was the widest commercial opener of the week, 19,393 seats at 7.4 percent. The tables mark it new because its only earlier reading was a single 163-seat preview screening on 24 July. Ice Cream Man opened the same day on 38 branches and took 3,887 seats at 5.7 percent. Three catalogue returns opened alongside it on 5 August, Train to Busan for its tenth anniversary on 2,474 seats, The Notebook on 1,919 and The Mummy Returns at twenty-five on 697, and the ATEEZ concert film took 1,462 on 6 August.
Against 27 July to 2 August the market gave back 110,690 filled seats and 5.9 points of occupancy, finishing at 36.5 percent full. Exhibitors offered 241,218 more seats than the week before, and the count of titles clearing a thousand filled seats rose from 10 to 17, so the same kind of audience spread across more choices.
The shape was a hold rather than a slide. Monday still ran at 44.3 percent on the opening weekend's momentum, midweek bottomed at 23.2 percent on Wednesday, then Saturday and Sunday came back at 49.9 and 47.1 percent.
3 to 9 August 2026. Each bar is scaled against the 1,315,680 observed seats across all films.

Scheduled-only titles and zero-seat advance listings are excluded because they do not provide a material weekly update.
These figures are estimates from what Takilya observed. They are not audited distributor returns.
Seats filled and seats offered are read off each cinema's own seat map for a screening. A reading taken more than six hours ahead of the show is set aside, so advance sales are never reported as a full house. A screening counts only where the reading gives a whole seat count against a known room capacity, and each showing is counted once however many times it was read.
Estimated gross is a floor. It multiplies the seats a screening filled by the ticket price observed for that screening, and falls back to the lowest applicable published price where none was seen. For this week 91.43 percent of filled seats carried a directly observed price.
Dollar figures use the 7 August 2026 reference rate of ₱60.867 to the dollar.
Coverage is the 10 chains, 160 branches and 690 auditoriums counted here. Fullest-room claims compare only the rooms that offered at least 2,000 seats across the week and carried at least 20 measured screenings spread over six of the seven days. A room is set aside when more than a quarter of its readings sat at full capacity, because a reading pinned at capacity cannot tell a sold-out house from a seat allocation the cinema had closed. Every total here is a floor built only from the chains Takilya observes.
